I’m getting some much-needed exercise here in Vancouver. I’ve never been to a city with so many parks! There’s a park here with museums, a park with views of the city where you can go hiking, and even a park with a beach! I’ve been spending so much time in these parks, but I don’t mind. They’re beautiful!
I have been doing other things like eating delicious food in Chinatown and hanging out at the great bookshops in the city. I do have to admit, though, I’ve been spending most of my time in the parks. The weather is so nice here that there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing!

我在溫哥華，少不了要做很多運動。從沒有去過一個有這麼多公園的城市！這裡有一座公園有博物館；有一座公園能看到城市的風景，還可以在裡頭健行；甚至還有一座公園有海灘！很多時間我都在逛這些公園，但沒關係，因為它們真的太美了！
我還做了其他事，像是在唐人街吃美味的東西，逛逛這裡的大型書店。不過我要承認，大部分時間我都在公園裡。這裡的天氣很好，沒有其他會讓我更想做的事了！

Dear John,
Vancouver sounds lovely! It must be so nice going to all those parks and spending time outside! There’s a nice girl that I met at my hostel that’s from there, and she’s been going on and on about what a beautiful city it is. It looks like I have to get there one day and check it out myself!
I’m having a great time in Prague, but I’m taking off for Budapest tomorrow which everyone says is a beautiful city as well. All this amazing architecture in Europe is really blowing me away!

溫哥華聽起來真迷人！可以在戶外動一動，去那些公園透透氣真好！在我的青年旅社，遇到一位溫哥華來的女孩，她人很好，一直說那裡真的很美。這樣聽起來好像我應該將來要親自去看看才對喔！
我在布拉格玩得很開心，但明天要離開這裡，啟程去布達佩斯了，每個人都說那裡也很美喔，歐洲這裡令人讚嘆的建築真是太令我印象深刻了！

Reading Passage
Located on the beautiful southwest coast of Canada, Vancouver is an outdoor-adventurer’s paradise. Not only is it full of parks, it has countless hiking opportunities for those who choose to venture outside the city limits.
溫哥華位在加拿大美麗的西南方海岸，是戶外冒險者的天堂，不只有很多公園，還有無數的健行機會，讓那些想在城市範圍之外冒險的人有所選擇。
The southwest coast of Canada is famous for its abundance of lakes, rivers, mountains and forests. Though Vancouver is a huge metropolis of 2 million people, there are parks spread throughout the city. Queen Elizabeth Park is one of the most loved parks of Vancouver. It occupies the highest point of the city and offers breathtaking views. There are Oriental-style gardens filled with pools and fountains and a bird conservatory where you can view tropical birds and fauna.
加拿大西南方的海岸很有名，有很多湖、河、山和森林。雖然溫哥華是一個有兩百萬居民的大都市，但還是有很多公園遍布其中。伊麗莎白女王公園是溫哥華最受喜愛的公園，佔據了城市的最高點，視野美得令人屏氣凝神。那裡有很多東方型態的花園，裡面有水塘、噴泉和鳥類保育區，可以看到很多熱帶鳥類和動物。
A short walk from downtown is Stanley Park which has a 10 km walking trail and amazing views of the mountain ranges that surround Vancouver. There are totem poles scattered throughout the park which are a fine example of the indigenous, Native American art. If you want to swim, head to Vanier Park where there’s a beautiful beach. After taking a dip, you can visit the park’s many museums like the History Museum, the Space Museum, and the Maritime museum.
從市區走一小段路就會到達史丹利公園，那裡有10公里長的走道，而且看得到環繞溫哥華的美麗山脈景色。公園裡到處都有圖騰木柱，代表美洲印第安原住民的藝術。假如你想要游泳，可以去凡尼爾公園，那裡有美麗的海灘。稍微逗留後，可以參觀公園的博物館，像是歷史博物館、天文館和海洋博物館。
If these parks are too close to the city for you, parks just outside the city limits are so full of wild life that it’s hard to imagine that you’re a short bus ride from the city. Lynn Canyon Park is set in thick woods and is a good example of the rainforest vegetation of southwest Canada. There is a suspension bridge going over the canyon itself which offers dizzying views of the ground that is hundreds of meters below. Mt Seymour Provincial Park is a great place if you feel like hiking through the mountains, or just getting a great view of the beautiful city of Vancouver.
