蘇軾詞念奴嬌：「亂石崩雲，驚濤裂岸，捲起千堆雪。……」想來有長江的廣浩壯大，才能有黃崗那兒如雪的浪花啊。如今長江三峽大壩築成，長江沿岸的人要想再看到東坡居士在黃崗上看到的景象，怕是不太可能的了。台灣四面環海，我們到海邊去，隨時都可以看到如此驚濤拍岸的景色──巨浪擁湧上來時，有一種獅虎拔地而起的氣勢；澎澎巨響也會讓人心怖神眩！但是遠處那兒的岸灘好美，涼亭那兒好謐靜，咱們還是去那邊坐坐吧。
Severed Shore （裂岸）
When I read the verses of Su Shi, "Tangled crags tear the clouds; angry waves sever the shore, and churn up a thousand piles of snow," I think of how the power of the Yangtze River churns up rapids like snowdrifts at Huanggang. But now that the Three Gorges Dam has been built, people living along the Yangtze River are no longer able to see the sights that Su Shi viewed at Huanggang.
Taiwan is an island surrounded by the sea. We can go to the seashore at any time and see huge, angry waves pounding the shore. It's like enraged lions or tigers leaping up from the ground, and the sound of the breakers is thunderous.
But the shore in the distance is quite lovely, and it is calm by the pavilion. Maybe we should go sit there for a while.＠
