Who of us had a favorite teddy bear as a child? A teddy we could share all our secrets with.

[Yulia Kobas, Museum Curator]:
“This is quite a phenomenon! Why would we trust the biggest predator? Nobody can explain this. There are kitty cats, squirrels and bunnies as well, but it is bears that get such special treatment”.

And this special treatment extends to having a whole exhibition dedicated to teddy bears. You can see teddy bears from the 1930s here, even the display bear from the 1980 Moscow Olympic’s.

This Ukrainian toy maker aims to replicate traditional costumes on her teddy bears.

“When I brought my work here, I wanted to show that my bears are from Ukraine and so I dressed them in traditional costumes- all hand-embroidered. I studied the history of costumes, so as to make them genuine replicas.”
