I have no problem with using any strange colors to portray mountains and forests in my landscape paintings. I believe in painting as I wish, without any formal constraints. I believe that thinking too much will even hurt one’s painting.
Some mountains appear dull-colored from far away, but blue or black from a closer viewpoint, and assume shades of dark green and pale yellow, etc. close-up. There is tremendous variation in the colors of mountains. When rain is falling, some peaks appear purplish-gray or reddish-black. Why is it that painters often fail to appreciate these kaleidoscopic, ever-changing colors? When we open our eyes, his is not an endlessly colorful world? I personally try to be bold in my use of colors when making landscape paintings. I always remind myself to be loyal to this world’s dazzling, endlessly-changing colors when I portray the mountains and valleys that lurk in the depths of my heart. @
