Another take on the month-long election process in India. Weddings are getting hard hit by the election this year because they are finding their wedding parties disrupted by a lack of vehicles. Evidently, authorities are taking vehicles for election duty, leaving wedding guests with just motorbikes and tractors.

“We are facing difficulty because of the elections. Many relatives have not been able to come to the marriage and then the police have taken over the private vehicles. How can people come for the marriage I want to ask? I came in an auto and some people are coming by tractors and motorbikes.”

Vipin Sharma, a transport official from Gwalior said that election arrangements had been worked out at a meeting with vehicle owners.

“The additional District Magistrate had called a meeting of all the vehicle owners and asked them if they could spare their vehicles. If some vehicle owner had twenty vehicles he was asked to spare fifteen, which he did willingly. The vehicles which had been booked for the marriage ceremony in advance have been spared.”
交通官员威平‧夏马说：“附属的地区行政官召开过车主的会议，询问他们是否愿意提供车辆，假如车主有20辆车，他被要求提供15辆，这是自愿的。原本登记预定为婚礼用的车，就被提供出去了。”
Madhya Pradesh goes to polls in two phases on April 23 and 30.
