達拉斯中學被評為全美最佳高中

【大紀元6月20日訊】（大紀元記者高強編譯報導）著名的《新聞週刊》（News Week）雜誌在四年內第三次把達拉斯的「Talented and Gifted」中學評為全美最佳高中。

該雜誌「全美最佳高中學校」的年度評比是依據一個唯一的指標：就是學校每年提供給所有學生（不光是高年級學生）參加大學預科考試、國際文憑考試、或劍橋測試的名額和當年即將畢業的高年級學生人數的比例。至於考試成績如何則不在考慮之列。

《新聞週刊》雜誌這個排名名單共包括1,600所學校，這僅佔所有公立高中的6%，這些學校必須在2009年給予所有畢業生至少一次參加大學預科考試、國際文憑考試、或劍橋測試的機會，該雜誌反而把參加SAT考試或ACT考試的平均分大大超過全美平均分的學校排除在外。在今年，進入名單的學校的SAT考試平均分數不得超過1975分，而ACT考試分數不得超過29分。

一些專家曾經批評這個評比方法太狹隘並且帶有誤導性。《新聞週刊》雜誌則表示，它不看考試成績的原因是因為有些中學會通過只讓頂尖學生參加上述考試的手段，從而人為推高考試及格率。

隨著教育學家們嚐試讓更多中學生接觸大學級的課程，近幾年德州範圍內的大學預科課程呈爆炸性增長。然而超過半數參加大學預科考試的德州公立中學的學生都分數不及格。
