讓我念念不忘的是這個地方的
那些明亮的陽光和新鮮的空氣
那些曾經的田地、清溪、泥土路……
那些曾經的玉蘭花、夜合花、野薑花、吊燈花……
那些曾經的竹林、木棉樹、榕樹、檳榔樹、椰子樹……
那些曾經的龍眼、芒果、蓮霧、荔枝、柚子、檸檬、楊桃……
那些曾經的稻子、玉米、蕃薯、黃豆、白豆、綠豆、紅豆、黑豆、芝麻、花生
以及胡瓜、蘿蔔、豆腐乳、高廲菜、大白菜、酸菜、青椒、韭菜、蔥、蒜、……
那些曾經的麻雀、斑鳩、白鷺鷥、烏鶖、喜鵲、烏嘴鷝仔、綠繡眼、裁縫鳥
以及竹雞、米雞、黃鶯、八哥、啄木鳥、雉雞……
那些曾經的雞群、鴨群、鵝群、鴿群、貓、狗、豬、牛……
那些曾經的牛車、犁、耙、鋤頭、圓鍬、畚箕、棕簑、籮筐、竹籃……
那些曾經的蟋蟀、蝴蝶、蜻蜓、金龜子、鳴蟬、螢火蟲……
那些曾經的鯽魚、蝦子、鱔魚、蛤蜊、田螺、吳郭魚、大肚魚、青蛙、鰻魚……
那些曾經的平房草屋、灰埕、稻草墩、古井、堆肥場、舂米臼、石磨、甕……
那些曾經的父母叔伯諸親人……
那些曾經的特有話語、鄉情、歡笑……
念念不忘呀念念不忘……
可是如今我回來
一切都改變了
尋覓，尋覓，再尋覓
尋覓到的
只有泥土依舊

Let me constantly bear in mind are
Those bright sunshine and fresh air
Those once field, clear stream, mire road…
Those once yulan, coco magnolia, butterfly ginger, fuchsia…
Those once bamboo forest, kapok, banyan, betel palm, coco…
Those once logan, mango, wax apple, lichi, polemo, lemon, carambola…
Those once rice, corn, sweet potato, soybean, white bean, mung bean, adzuki bean, black soybean, sesame, peanut…
And cucumber, radish, fermented bean curd, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, suan cai, green pepper, garlic chives, bunching onion, garlic…
Those once sparrow, streptopelia, little egret, Formosan black drogon, magpie, black bulbuls, Japanese White-eye, Sew-bird as well as bamboo partrige, rice chicken, oriole, myna, woodpecker, pheasant…
Those once chickens, ducks, geese, doves, cat, dog, pigs, bovine…
Those once ox cart, plow, rake, hoe, spade, dustpan, palm-bark rain cape, crate, bamboo basket…
Those once cricket, butterfly, dragonfly, may beetle, cicada, firefly…
Those once crucian carp, shrimp, swamp eel, clam, river snail, tilapia, mosquitofish, grog, eel…
Those once thatched cottage, lime courtyard, straw heap, well, compost ground, shi jiu, mill, earthen jar…
Those once the kinsfolk of father, mother and uncle…
Those once the special words, closed feeling, laugh with joy…
Constantly bear in mind, oh constantly bear in mind…
However, all are change
