給原住民表演原始的

腳下這條蜿蜒山路

又是誰給流血滴汗的

碑和祠是

給築路的無名英雄建立的

給風景來相輝映的

In a certain afternoon of March

The sun sauntered to the seabed from the mountaintop

I sauntered to Eternal Spring Memorial Temple from Taroko

I didn’t know

By whom the right towering cliff was chopped

With one stroke of a sword

But only know that Fog-standing Stream sung

For the murmuring stream

And performed primitiveness

For the original inhabitants

I didn’t know

Who sweated their guts out

For opening the mountain path under my feet

I only know

The stele and the temple were all built

For the unsung heroes of roadbuilding

And they formed a delightful contrast with the scenery
