同你和廣大讀者共渡這一值得紀念的時刻﹐我深感榮幸。這的確標誌着一個新紀元﹐一個特殊的時刻。
在過去的三年中﹐大紀元時報忠誠地填補了一項社會角色﹑毫無疑問是必需的角色之一﹐即自由媒體。大約一個世紀前﹐沃特‧利普曼講到自由媒體和偉大的社會之間的有機關聯時說﹕“在一個偉大的社會中﹐自由媒體不是一種特權而是一種有機的需要‧‧‧一個偉大的社會只是一個巨大而複雜的都市社會。”
大紀元時報在完成這一使命方面有獨到之處。在力圖給其讀者提供及時的信息方面﹐大紀元獨闢奚徑。大紀元由世界各地的華人編輯﹐她架起了不同文化間的橋樑﹐因努力傳播而使所有這些文化都得以加強﹐有助于維護我們偉大的社會。

Dear Ms. Wang,
I am privileged to share this memorable occasion with you and your readers, one that indeed marks an epoch, or distinctive moment in time.
For three years Epoch Times has faithfully filled one of society’s roles, indeed one of its necessities, that of a free press. Almost a century ago, Walter Lippman addressed the organic interchange between a free press and a great society noting, “A free press is not a privilege but an organic necessity in a great society… A great society is simply a big and complicate urban society.”
Epoch Times is unique in fulfilling this charge. In its drive to provide timely information to its readers, it has chosen an unusual path. Edited by Chinese people from many geographic regions and nations, it serves as a bridge between cultures, strengthening all as it strives to inform, helping to sustain our great society.
In both paper and electronic medium, the Epoch Times has opened minds and informed, constantly serving to create educated and informed minds, avoiding the admonition of the Chinese proverb that “ A closed mind is like a closed book, just a block of wood.”
