　　When you thought I was not looking, I saw you hang my first picture on the refrigerator and I immediately wanted to paint another.

　　當你以為我不曾在意時，我聽見了你在祈禱。於是我知道了上帝的存在，我也可以隨時向他傾訴。於是我學會了堅信上帝。

　　

　　When you thought I was not looking, I saw you prepare food and take it to a sick friend, and I learned we all have to help and take care of each other.

　　 當你以為我不曾在意時，我看見你準備食物，並把它送給生病的朋友。於是我知道大家應該互相幫助。

　　When you thought I was not looking, I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing, and I learned that those who have something should give to those who do not.

　　 當你以為我不曾在意時，我看見你將時間和金錢給予那些一無所有者。於是我知道擁有者應該給予那未曾擁有的人。

　　When you thought I was not looking, I felt you kiss me good night and I felt loved and safe.

　　 當你以為我不曾在意時，我感到了你睡前的輕吻。於是我感到了安全，於是我感到了被愛。

　　When you thought I was not looking, I saw you take care of our home and everyone in it, and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

　　 當你以為我不曾在意時，我看見你整理我們的家，照料裡面的每一個人。於是我知道我們應該珍惜我們被賜予的。

　　When I thought you were not looking, I saw how you handled your responsibilities, even when you did not feel good, and I learned that I have to be responsible when I grow up.

　　 當你以為我不曾在意時，我看見你即便是心情不好，也盡心盡力的履行責任。於是我知道長大後我也必須有責任心。

　　When you thought I was not looking, I saw tears flow from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it is allright to cry.

　　 當你以為我不曾在意時，我看見眼淚從你的眼中溢出。於是我知道生活中難免有傷痛，而哭泣並不可恥。

　　When you thought I was not looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

　　 當你以為我不曾在意時，我看見你是那樣的在乎我。於是我想要盡到自己的一切努力。

　　When you thought I was not looking, I learned most of life’s lessons that I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grew up.
