這是早些時候有一段時期我用「色塊」做畫面處理的作品之一。

我嘗試這種構圖的作品其實不少,只是不敢拿出來發表,因為有朋友到家裡來,看到這種大紅大綠大紫的山水,往往「目瞪口呆」。有些人能「稍加認同」;有些人則認為這種畫「大逆不道」,說中國畫被我們這批人給害慘了,旁門左道,根本不是水墨畫了。

為什麼一定要畫「純種」的中國畫?

保留純種、延續傳統,互相抄襲,一成不變,難道就是水墨畫的正途嗎?

A Natural Monument/ink and color painting

This is one of the earlier works during the time when I was using blocks of color in my paintings.

I actually attempted to use this kind of composition in many paintings. I don’t dare to show them off, though, because my friends always stand there with their mouth agape-stunned when they see a landscape painting with outrageous colors like these. Some people “can get into it a little,” but others consider it treason, and say that people like me have destroyed Chinese painting. They feel that it is ranked heresy, and is by no means ink and wash painting.

Why should I be forced to produce only “purebred” Chinese paintings?

Is it the right path for ink and wash painting to preserve purebred tradition, engage in mutual plagiarism, and never change?@
