【大紀元3月25日訊】美國聯邦眾議院外交委員會亞太小組於本(3)月19日下午一致同意通過一項美國重申對台灣關係法堅定支持之眾院第55號共同決議案。本處對美國國會議員給予中華民國之支持，深致謝忱。
此項決議案係由「國會台灣連線」共同主席柏可麗 (Shelley Berkley, D-NV) (民主黨籍-內華達州)等17位聯邦眾議員於2月23日提出，該案指出台灣關係法對美國與台灣之關係至為重要，重申美國對台灣關係法堅定不移之承諾，重申美國支持台灣之民主制度，並重申美國支持美台間堅固及深化之雙邊關係。
柏可麗眾議員提案後，在短短三週內即獲得民主、共和兩黨共120位聯邦眾議員之連署，其中有外委會成員25位。本處歡迎美國聯邦眾院外委會亞太小組迅速審議並通過該項決議案。在台灣關係法立法將屆30週年之際，美國國會展現對台灣之支持彰顯雙邊關係之友好與密切。

Today the Asia, the Pacific and the Global Environment Subcommittee of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs unanimously passed the House Concurrent Resolution 55. This resolution reaffirms the U.S. unwavering commitment to the Taiwan Relations Act as vital to relations between the U.S. and Taiwan. TECRO deeply appreciates this action today.
This resolution was introduced by Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D-NV), Co-chair of the Congressional Taiwan Caucus and 17 other members on Feb. 23, 2009. This resolution reaffirms the U.S. unwavering commitment to the Taiwan Relations Act, reaffirms the U.S. support for Taiwan’s democratic institutions, and supports the strong and deepening relationship between the United States and Taiwan. This resolution has received vast bipartisan support from members of the House across the aisle within 3 weeks after its introduction. A total of 120 cosponsors of the resolution include 25 members from the House Committee on Foreign Affairs. TECRO welcomes the adoption of H. Con. Res. 55.
As the 30th anniversary of the enactment of the TRA draws near, the action by the U.S. Congress today clearly demonstrates the friendly and close relationship between Taiwan and the U.S.
