Souls Awakened

I was taken to the office again in the afternoon a week later.

The 610 told me: One of the torturers, a Chatou inmate, had admitted what I had testified was true (Another torturer had been released ahead of her due time).

A guard went up with a thick rope. “Do you recognize what it is?” the 610 asked me.

“Yes. They bound me with it in the torture.”

The 610 said: Yes, the guards had admitted it, and the rope had been kept in the Third Brigade warehouse.

Then he asked me to sign my name and press my fingerprints on the photo of the rope that he had taken.

“All this material will be submitted to the Provincial Government leaders, and it will be for the leaders to decide how to penalize the guilty party,” he said.

“How long until the leaders make the decision?” I asked.

“Very soon.”

“Could you please inform my family and me of the leaders’ decision when it has been made?”

“Okay.”
