达拉斯中学被评为全美最佳高中

【大纪元6月20日讯】（大纪元记者高强编译报导）著名的《新闻周刊》（News Week）杂志在四年内第三次把达拉斯的“Talented and Gifted”中学评为全美最佳高中。

该杂志“全美最佳高中学校”的年度评比是依据一个唯一的指标：就是学校每年提供给所有学生（不光是高年级学生）参加大学预科考试、国际文凭考试、或剑桥测试的名额和当年即将毕业的高年级学生人数的比例。至于考试成绩如何则不在考虑之列。

《新闻周刊》杂志这个排名名单共包括1,600所学校，这仅占所有公立高中的6%，这些学校必须在2009年给予所有毕业生至少一次参加大学预科考试、国际文凭考试、或剑桥测试的机会，该杂志反而把参加SAT考试或ACT考试的平均分大大超过全美平均分的学校排除在外。在今年，进入名单的学校的SAT考试平均分数不得超过1975分，而ACT考试分数不得超过29分。

一些专家曾经批评这个评比方法太狭隘并且带有误导性。《新闻周刊》杂志则表示，它不看考试成绩的原因是因为有些中学会通过只让顶尖学生参加上述考试的手段，从而人为推高考试及格率。

随着教育学家们尝试让更多中学生接触大学级的课程，近几年德州范围内的大学预科课程呈爆炸性增长。然而超过半数参加大学预科考试的德州公立中学的学生都分数不及格。
