已經好些日子了

總覺得很奇怪

總有一些聲音從窗外傳來

斷斷續續

不分晨昏

不分陰晴

不分日夜

好像是貓叫春的聲音

又像是嬰兒啼笑的聲音

我聚精會神去聽

想方設法，力圖找出那聲音

到底是什麼聲音

到底是從哪裡來的

到底是哪些怪物發出的

今天我終於找到答案了：

當我一早打開窗子

赫然發現

窗前那棵玉蘭樹的枝頭上

有好些芽苗正歡唱著

早春

For quite many days

I feel it strange

To hear some voice from without the window

On and off

Morning or dusk

Cloudy or clear

Day or night

Like caterwaul

And like cries of a baby

I listen with all ears

Try every means, to trace the voice

What kind of voice

From where on earth

Produced by what a strange animal

Today I finally get the answer:

When I open the window in early morning

What greets me

Is on twigs of the Magnolia tree before the window

Many buds are singing merrily the song of

Early spring
