It sounds like you’re having a great time in Amsterdam! gotten so much exercise here in San Francisco walking up and down the hilly streets to check out the different areas of the city. But it’s been worth it!
This city is amazing with so many different ethnic and cultural neighborhoods. It feels like the whole world has been squeezed into this little corner of California! a Chinese neighborhood, a Japanese neighborhood, an Italian neighborhood, and a Mexican neighborhood where I’m chowing down on a burrito and writing this postcard to you from. I’m going to go and take a trolley car to the Golden Gate Bridge. Talk to you soon!

Dear Gary,
It sounds like you’re seeing the whole world in San Francisco. It must be like Amsterdam, multicultural with opportunities to get a taste of many different countries. Speaking of tastes, I think I’ve overdone it on the French fries! I’ve been eating three huge bags everyday. I don’t think I ever want to look at a potato ever again!
It’s time to leave Amsterdam anyways as the Queen’s Day celebrations are finally over. It’s been so much fun, but I’m looking forward to some time relaxing. I’m off to Prague tomorrow, so I’ll send you a postcard from there.

Reading Passage
San Francisco is one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the world. People from every corner of the world have emigrated here and set up restaurants and even whole regions and neighborhoods. This has resulted in making San Francisco a very cosmopolitan city.
舊金山是世界上種族最多元的城市之一，世界各地的人移居到這裡，經營餐廳，甚至建立他們完整的區域和社區，使舊金山成為一個非常國際性的城市。
There are not many other cities where you can go around the world in a thirty-minute walk. Chinatown, one of the biggest Chinese communities outside of Asia, is a great place for strolling around and getting a taste of Chinese culture. Cantonese is the language spoken here, and it’s not unusual to go into a store where people don’t speak English. There’s a colorful Chinese New Year celebration where parades and fireworks light up the streets.
很少有城市能在30分鐘路程內，就讓你看盡全世界。這裡的唐人街是亞洲以外最大的華人社區，是散步和體驗中華文化的好地方。廣東話是這裡使用的語言，進去這裡的商店，不說英語並不是件怪事。這裡有有趣的中國新年慶祝活動，街道上有遊行慶祝和煙火施放。
A short walk away is North Beach, the Italian district. Here, you can pick up a steaming cappuccino and delicious plate of pasta that is exactly like what you’d find in a restaurant in Italy. Men sit at tables outside of cafes playing cards, reading Italian newspapers and having lively, animated conversations in Italian.

Not too far away is Japantown where you can visit beautiful gardens and sip tea in traditional teahouses. Late April is the best time to be in Japantown as this is when the Cherry Blossom Festival takes place. Parades and martial-art demonstrations offer a great form of entertainment and it’s a wonderful opportunity to get a glimpse of Japanese culture. Don’t leave San Francisco without a visit to the Mission, the city’s Hispanic district. Spanish is the language spoken here and is a great place to get delicious Mexican food and hear lively Latin-American music.
