【大紀元4月28日訊】據來自Haworth的消息，州長McGreevey 4月22日在新州Oradell水庫 參與慶祝地球日(Earth Day)活動，宣佈州府已經簽署措施強力保護九個飲用水庫和六個顯示生態保護狀況的河流及其支流。州長提到這些水源為大約超過40%新州人口的350萬居民享用。即使舉辦活動地點的Oradell水庫，也為博根郡Bergen和哈迪生郡Hudson提供了75萬居民的飲用水源。環保部門Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) 圍繞新署措施之水質Category One (C1)標準還在網頁上徵詢公眾意見，做為一系列規定的依據。這些水庫有﹕Hunterdon郡的Round Valley ，Atlantic郡的Doughty ，Bergen郡的Oradell，Morris郡的Charlottesburg，Boonton， Swimming River，Glendola，Monmouth郡的Manasquan ，Passaic 郡的Wanaque 。河流包括﹕Hunterdon郡的South Branch，Beaver Brook ， Sidney Brook，Sussex郡的Flat Brook ，Warren郡的Pequest River，Burlington 郡的Assiscunk Creek。
