【大紀元6月4日訊】
莊子家貧，要向監河侯借糧。
監河侯說：「好的！等我收了稅金後，就借錢給你，好嗎？」
莊子板著臉說：「昨天我來的時候，聽到有把聲音叫我，我回頭看看，見到有一條魚躺在車轍的地方。我問那條魚在那裏做甚麼，牠回答說：『我是東海的水官，你有沒有一些水可以救救我呢？』我對魚說：『當然有啦？等我遊覽吳、越等地時，就引道西江的水來救你，好嗎？』魚板著臉說：『沒有水我不能生存，我只需要很少的水便可活著，此刻如果你不能幫我，不如早點到乾魚市場找我吧。』」
The Fish Can Wait
Zhuang Zi was poor and had to borrow some grain from the Marquis of Jianhe.
"Sure!" said the Marquis. "But wait till I've collected all the tax dues from te people, then I'll lend you some money. Is that all right with you?"
Zhuang Zi pulled a long face and said,"When I was on my way here yesterday, I heard a voice calling my name. I looked back and saw a fish in a rut. I asked the fish what it was doing there. The fish replied,'I'm a wave officer from the East Sea. Do you have some water to save me?'
"I told the fish, 'Sure! Wait till I tour the States of Wu and Yue, then I'll divert water from the Xijiang River to save you. Is that all right with you?'
"Ther fish pulled a long face and said, 'I can't live without water. I only need a little water to stay alive. If you can't help me now, go early to the dried fish market and find me there!'"
