20 hot air balloon pilots and their crews from Australia, Japan, Finland, the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Thailand are participating in the four-day event.

This year the International Balloon Festival attracted champion pilot Masahiko Fujita from Japan.

“I do want to fly in Thailand, so this is my dream to fly in Thailand. So I come here.”

Hundreds of Thai and foreign visitors flocked to an ancient temple to watch the gigantic, colorful hot air balloons take to the skies.
数以百计的泰国人和外国游客都涌进了一座古寺，来观赏这些巨大的、多姿多采的热气球升上天际。
But the small number of balloons this year was a disappointment to some who drove in from Bangkok.
然而，对一些从曼谷开车来的人，今年数目不多的轻气球则令人感到失望。
[Suthinuch Petrung, Fairgoer]:
“I think there are fewer balloons this year from what I saw on the Internet last year. There were more balloons and I wanted to see the rabbit shaped balloon but it is not here. There are just these two big highlight balloons behind me.”
[Suthinuch Petrung, 博览会观众]:“我认为今年的轻气球比我在网路上看到去年的来得少，去年的轻气球比较多，而且我想看的是兔子造型的轻气球，但是这里没有。这里只有我身后这两个大的最受瞩目的轻气球”
Last year the festival had a huge turnout of some 300,000 visitors, despite a blockade at Bangkok airports.
虽然去年在曼谷机场曾一度封锁，热气球节仍有大约30万游客的众多参观人数。
[Yut Wanichanond, Festival Organizer]:
“I’m delighted that people are interested in the fair so much. We would like the image of Thailand, which has less entertainment now, to have more entertainment and people can come to see the balloon festival and be happy.”
[Yut Wanichanond, 热气球节发起人]:“我很高兴人们对这个博览会如此有兴趣，我们想让泰国目前较少娱乐的形象变得更多，而且人们可以前来参观轻气球节，同时得到快乐。”
The first International Balloon Festival was held in 2007.
第一届国际轻气球节于2007年举办。
