作為維多利亞省省長和多元文化事務部部長,我非常榮幸地向新唐人電視臺觀眾和希望之聲電臺聽眾祝賀中國農曆新年快樂。
農曆新年在中華傳統上是人們在辭舊迎新之際回憶和慶賀的日子。和世界上別的地區和城市中的華人一樣﹐維多利亞省的華人社區也以裝飾街道﹐遊行﹐舞龍等多姿多彩的方式慶祝農曆新年。墨爾本市的農曆新年慶祝每年都是維多利亞省吸引成千上萬觀眾的最重大文化活動之一。作為本省充滿活力的多元文化和語言的一部份﹐華人社區在本省的發展上扮演着不可缺少的角色。讓本省不同文化背景的族裔共享不同的文化傳統也是我們歡迎和接受本省各個社區的方式之一。
本省的華人為大維多利亞省作出了不斷的貢獻。在此我代表本省政府表達我們的感謝和支持。

MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER
As the Premier of Victoria and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs, it is my great privilege to convey my Lunar New Years greetings to the New Tang Dynasty and Sound of Hope International Radio Network audience.
The Lunar New Year is traditionally a time for both reflection and celebration as people look back on the past and anticipate their hopes for the future year. In Victoria, as in cities and towns around the world, Chinese communities mark the Lunar New Year with colorful festivals, street entertainment, parades and Dragon Boat Races. Melbourne’s Chinese New Year festival attracts thousands of people each year from all over the state and is one of Victoria’s most popular cultural events. As part of Victoria’s dynamic cultural and linguistic diversity, the Chinese community plays an integral role in the development of the State. The sharing of cultural traditions by Victorians of all backgrounds is just one of the ways we keep building on the welcoming and accepting society we have in Victoria.
Chinese Victorians continue to make a significant contribution to the great state of Victoria and on behalf of my Government I offer our appreciation and continued support.
