如何閱讀英語新聞的標題（四）

當你在英語新聞的標題上看到分號「;」時，其實代表了二件事情，也就是前後的主詞是不同的。相反，「,」前後的主詞則是相同的。

舉例：HK leader finally quits; deputy to take over
香港領袖最後辭職；副首將接手。
HK leader finally quits; the deputy is going to take over

你可以看到分號;前後的主詞是不同的，前面是HK leader，後面則是deputy。

舉例：Mining Disasters Still Frequent in Mainland China; 27 People Missing
在中國大陸，礦災仍很頻繁；有27人失蹤。
Mining Disasters are Still Frequent in Mainland China; 27 People are Missing

舉例：600, 000 People Resign from the CCP; Jinan Television Interrupted to Broadcast “Nine Commentaries”
六十萬人退出共產黨；吉林電視台被插播《九評》
600, 000 People Resign from the CCP; Jinan Television is interrupted to Broadcast “Nine Commentaries”
