CHAO: The ripple effect of more people supporting the 5 million who Quit the CCP is showing. Four Chinese associations in Melbourne invited Professor Yuan Hongbing to talk about China’s future.
STORY: A wise person doesn’t just look left and right, but ahead as well.
Professor Yuan Hongbing, Political defector: “Discard Marxism-Leninism, rebuild China; abolish the tyranny, restore the divine land.”
In other words the professor has no illusions about a communist “one-party totalitarian policy.”
Copping harsh criticism from modern Chinese writers, he says there is little reason for people to hate him on the grounds he’s anti-communist.
Professor Yuan Hongbing, Political defector: “No matter how many types of fight they come along, I only directly fight one type: the Chinese Communist Party’s tyranny, and I will not be disturbed by them.”
Despite pressuring and criticism, Melbourne-based Chinese welcomed the professor, a former dean of the Guizhou Normal University Law School.
After a 3 hour speech with questions and answers, the event organizer presented Yuan Hongbing a medallion proclaiming him a “Democratic Warrior, Sincere and Loyal”.
The event was joint-organized by the Indo-China Ethnic Chinese Association Of Victoria, Chinese Community Society, Springvale Chinese Association and Chinese Youth Society.

Ripple effect: 漣漪效應，這是一個很有素養的用詞。通常指涉新聞的後續發展，記者會用aftermath, fallout二個字。
這一句也是因為主詞的「後位修飾」，把句子拉的很長。其實主要子句所傳遞的主要訊息就是：The ripple effect is showing. 漣漪效應正在顯現出來。
那麼是什麼的漣漪效應呢？用 of 這個介係詞拉出 more people supporting the 5 million (people) 有更多的人支持這五百萬人，supporting 是分詞。這五百萬人幹什麼了？用關係代名詞who引導出一個形容詞子句，who quit the CCP他們退出中國共產黨Chinese Communist Party。如果把這麼長的主詞寫成一個句子就是：
The ripple effect is that more people support the 5 million who quit the CCP.
所以原句中的唯一動詞是supporting呢？還是quit呢？還是is呢？
答案是is。

有更多的人們聲援五百萬退出共產黨的漣漪效應正在顯現著。在墨爾本的四個中國社團，邀請袁紅冰教授，談論中國的未來。

【講解】
But對等連接詞，因為主詞與動詞相同，所以都省略了。詳細寫就是but he looks ahead as well.
As well, 就是「也」的意思，too。As well as～則是「與」，and。
【譯文】:
一個智者不只是看左和右而已，他也往前看！
Professor Yuan Hongbing, Political defector: “Discard Marxism-Leninism, rebuild China; abolish the tyranny, restore the divine land.”
【講解】
Defect是「叛逃」，正面講就是「投誠」，defector就是叛逃者，正面講就是「投誠者」。De-是apart的意思，-fect是to run的意思，所以defect就是to run apart之意。
Discard, 拋棄，To cast off or reject as useless; throw away.
Tyranny, 專制、暴政，Cruel or oppressive government.
Divine, 神聖的，holy, sacred.
【譯文】:
袁紅冰教授，這位政治上的反共義士，說：「驅逐馬列，再建中國；革除暴政，恢復神州」
In other words the professor has no illusions about a communist “one-party totalitarian policy.”
【講解】
Illusion, 幻想、錯覺，mistaken perception。
Totalitarian, 極權的、專制的，centralized, dictatorial, and requiring complete subservience to the state. (subservience, 卑躬屈膝)

換句話說，袁教授對共產黨的「一黨專政政策」並沒有幻想。

Cope，應付、對付。
Harsh，嚴厲的，unpleasant, unkind, cruel or unnecessarily severe。
Grounds, 立場， position。

Disturb，干擾，困擾。To throw into confusion; agitate.
【譯文】:
