扁鹊以医术见称。有一次，秦武王生病，派人请他来医治。
扁鹊细察武王后，认为武王的病，可以用针灸医好，可是武王身边的侍臣却不以为然。
扁鹊一离去，他们便对武王说：“大王的疾患，有耳前目下之处，就是用针灸，也未必能彻底根治。如果手术万一有差错。大王很可能会变成又聋又盲。大王还是不要冒这个险了。”
武王将侍臣的话告知扁鹊。扁鹊听后大怒，登时将针灸的用具全扫在地上，生气地对武王说：“大王既然要治病，就应该与精于医术的人商量。听从不晓医理的人，只会误事。大王如果这样去治理国家，国家必会因大王一举而灭亡。”
Consult The Experts
Bian Que was famous for his medical expertise. One time the King of Qin was sick and sent for him.
After examining the King closely, Bian Que said he could cure the King with acupuncture treatment, be the King’s aides thought otherwise.
As soon as Bian Que was gone, they told the King, ‘Your troubling spot is somewhere in front of your ear below the eye. Even acupuncture treatment may not cureyou completely. If by any chance the treatment should fail, you’ll very likely become both deaf and blind. It is better not to take any risk.”
The King related their remark to Bian Que. In a fit of anger, Bian Que dashed all his accupuncture apparatus onto the floor.
“To get well, my lord!” said Bian Que angrily, “you need the help of a medical expert. Listening to the medically incompetent will only spoil matters. Now if you apply the same principle to rule the country, you’ll bring the country to ruin.
