羅馬道中（彩墨）
由桃園龍潭通往關西瓊林的半路上，往左手邊看，有一條路叫「羅馬公路」（由羅浮到馬武都）這條路幾乎是沿著一條小山澗走，沿途景色非常幽美，路邊盡是客家村落──小丘陵、小部落、小溪流、小梯田……是尚未開發的地方，充滿了鄉野情趣。
小溪流的岸邊長滿了野薑花，每當花開時，香聞數里，行車在公路上，聞到的空氣盡是濃郁的香，真有如置身世外桃源。
在一個「懶散」的秋天裡，驅車前往羅馬公路，做「懶散」的一日遊。行經這麼一處景色如畫的地方，情不自禁的下車來，撥開野薑花，露出一條「香徑」，好香。再往下走，看到三五個人在對岸放風箏。趕快回車上拿寫生簿，把這場景畫下來。
On the Rome Road / ink and color painting
Halfway between Longtan, Taoyuan County and Qionglin, Guanxi, you will pass a road on the left called “Rome Road” (from Luofu to Mawudu). This road roughly follows a small stream from the hills, and the scenery along the way is very lovely and secluded. There is a series of Hakka villages by this road—Xiaochiuling, Xiaobuluo, Xiaoxiliu, and Xiaotitian. It’s a pretty undeveloped area, full of pastoral charm.
There are white ginger lilies growing by the bank of the stream, and when they are in bloom, their scent pervades the air for a great distance. When I’m driving along the road, and smell the flowers’ intoxicating fragrance, I feel as if I’ve entered some Shangri-La.
On an indolent fall day, I took a drive along the Rome Road, as part of a leisure day-trip. Passing through such exquisite scenery, I couldn’t help but get out of the car. I pushed aside the lilies and found a small path through the intensely fragrant flowers. Going down the hill, I saw four or five people flying kites on the far bank. I quickly returned to my car to get my sketch book so I could record the scene. ＠
