The Singer Sang His Song
There was once a famous singer by the name of Qin Qing. People loved to hear him sing. They would all be carried away by his songs.
Xue Tan asked Qin Qing to teach him singing. Qin Qing agreed.
After several months, Xue Tan thougth he had learnt everything his teacher had to offer. He told Qin Qing that he was leaving. Qin Qing did not persuade him to stay.
On the day of Xue Tan’s departure, they held a farewell picnic in the countryside. Qin Qing played the organ and sang a parting song for his student.
His lofty voice lingered in the air and resounded melodiously through the woods. It reached the far ends of the skies. Even the drifting clouds stopped to listen.
At that moment, Xue Tan realized that he had not even a smattering of his teacher’s art. Before his teacher, he was nothing at all.
He begged Qin Qing to take him back. From then on, he dared not mention leaving – not until he could fully master the art of singing.
