Pigeons and Soldiers Hsu ChiCheng
——Aug. 23,1997, Seoul War Museum

Pigeon, white, gray
Flying in the sky over the Museum
Or stepping leisurely while chasing one another
In the square before the Museum
They walk leisurely
Keeping cooing
Very peacefully

Each soul of the soldiers who died on battlefield
Lives quiet
In his own monument
They don’t battle with guns
Any longer
But live lonely life, shedding tears
Missing their home towns and their relatives and friends

I wish the wings of the pigeons
Will never broken again by war
I wish monument stones never increase
Let the alive soldiers remove in them
I wish armed conflict never happens again
War disappears forever in the world
And olive branch always carries peace
